About Well Made
Well Made is an Industrial Design studio and fabrication wood shop focused on framing and organization, located in the west Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago. Founded in 2013, we work directly with customers, businesses, retailers and distributors. Our handcrafted products have shipped to over 50 countries and our work has been seen on the DIY Network, Real Simple, Food and Wine, Huff Post and dozens of other blogs, magazines and tv networks.
We are looking for a highly-organized Fulfillment Lead to lead product assembly and order processing efforts while filling a critical gap between our fabrication department and our front of house business operations.
The employee would take ownership of daily order processing; from assembly and packouts to label generation and shipment documentation and tracking. Additional assistance would be required keeping physical inventory counts and keeping shipping supplies stocked and organized. This is a new position within the organization and we would encourage you to share your insights and opinions.
The ideal candidate would have 1-3 years experience in a similar position or have a keen ability to pick up new tasks quickly. No need to know the ins and outs of a woodshop, though that would be a plus. We want someone who shares our entrepreneurial spirit and gets excited to come to work each day.
Skills and Abilities
You must be highly organized and willing to provide examples. Reliability is also a key factor as is follow-through and paying attention to details. Our business lives and dies on getting done what we say in the timeline we commit to. You must be responsible, accountable and punctual – a self-starter and entrepreneurial attitude is ideal. Must be mathematically and mechanically inclined. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination are important aspects to performing component assembly functions to satisfactory standards. Computer skills and effective communication skills would also prove beneficial. This individual would consider delivery presentation as part of the overall craftsmanship of our products.
Experience / Education
Notice we put Experience before Education. Much of what we do requires hands on experience. We’re going to ask you for examples of what you have done and how it applies to us. No formal degree required, high school diploma or equivalent is a must.
Up to $30,000 salary, dependent on experience. Two weeks paid vacation, 5 paid holidays, 3 paid sick days, health insurance after three months and retirement plan. This is a full time position.
